Interestingly.... A clock (usually on a wall or desk) or a watch (usually smaller and kept in a pocket or worn on the wrist) is a device that tells the time. Some can give the date as well. There are many different clocks and watches. Some are called "analog" since there are hands moving and some "digital" where numbers or digits update without using hands. A wristwatch is worn on the wrist by joining two straps together to keep it from falling off. A pocket watch is kept in a pocket. Another type of clock is an alarm clock, which is a clock that rings or plays music in order to wake people up in the morning so they will not sleep too long. A grandfather clock is a tall clock that stands on a floor and uses a pendulum to tell time. Clocks tell time by having some sort of steady beat or motion. An ancient water clock worked by the steady movement of water from a container with a hole in the bottom to another container without a hole. Digital clocks work by measuring the vibrations of quartz crystals when charged with electricity. The amount of vibrations a quartz crystal per second doesn't change. Atomic clocks use the steady decay of radioactive atoms to measure time. They are some of the most precise clocks in the world

WANT TO REALLY BE IN THE ANTIQUE CLOCK BUSINESS?Our main business is antique mechanical musical instruments. We sort of stumbled on this collection of fine antique Vienna clocks. We are prepared to sell this entire collection of approximately 1500 antique clocks plus lots of mechanisms for a price in the $900,000 range. This auction is for the entire lot.We recently purchased the 24,000 square foot antique shop of long time Dallas antique dealer Albert Copeland. Albert died this summer and the estate wished to sell the entire property, building and all, packed with fine continental antiques and literally hundreds and hundreds of fine Vienna regulator style antique wall clocks, the majority of which had never been unpacked since their import in the late sixties and early seventies! Albert lived in Vienna and had associates running his antique shop in Dallas, what he enjoyed was buying fine antiques and shipping them back to the U.S., he was on the ground in Vienna during a time when fine antiques were inexpensive and plentiful, so he bought and bought and bought. Now you have a chance to benefit from Albert s purchases. We have sold the building in Dallas, and we have auctioned off and otherwise sold all of the fine continental antiques, other than the clocks.
